Snake spotted in Christ ChurchPublished on: 5/9/06A SNAKE, probably a Burmese python "at least ten feet long and about six inches in diameter", has been spotted between Carter's Gap and Enterprise, Christ Church. Herpetologist Damon Corrie told the DAILY NATION that two Friday nights ago, there was a report from Enterprise in which a homeowner heard a noise under his house and reported it to him. The next day, Corrie said, when he visited the site, he found a junkyard directly behind it with many hiding places, and saw a trail flattened by "something about six inches wide". There are about six houses in the immediate area. Reports from Christ Church indicated sightings from about a year ago, but Corrie said it was only recently that his contact number had been published, so previously people did not know how to get in touch with him. He said there had been actual sightings of the snake, which he said was probably a Burmese python, given the width. Boa constrictors reached a similar length but were more slender. Those reporting sightings described greenish markings, again suggesting the python. He stressed that people should not try to capture any of these large snakes, which ranged between eight and 18 feet long. The numbers to call on a sighting or the discovery of evidence are 231-2975 (Damon), 262-9984 (Geoffrey) or 233-8740 (Corey).
